Chelsea Carroll Champagne

Native of the Acadiana area, Chelsea Carroll Champagne graduated from Teurlings Catholic High School in 2010. Thereafter, she attended McNeese State University where she majored in Political Science and Agriculture Business. During her time at McNeese, she was a 4X National Collegiate Finals Rodeo qualifier and served as the McNeese Rodeo Team Captain during that time. Hanging up her ropes for law school, Chelsea then attended Southern University Law Center where she earned a spot on the SULC Law Review and Trial Advocacy team and was awarded CALI Awards in both Trial Advocacy and Commercial Paper. Chelsea graduated with honors obtaining her Juris Doctorate in May 2017 while clerking for Justice James “Jimmy” T. Genovese, who was on the Third Circuit bench at that time. After being admitted to the Louisiana Bar in October 2017, she clerked for the 27th Judicial District Court in St. Landry Parish until May 2018, at which time she began practicing medical malpractice defense and healthcare law in Lafayette. Following a successful DA’s race for W. Thomas Barrett of Cameron Parish, Chelsea accompanied his team in January 2021, as the Cameron Parish Assistant District Attorney, while continuing her civil practice in healthcare law. Chelsea joined our team in June 2022 while maintaining her ADA role for Cameron Parish.

Chelsea is married to Moss Bluff native, Dylan Champagne, and they happily call Sweetlake home. She is an active member in the Catholic faith, Cameron Parish Lions Club, and Cameron Parish Revitalization group. In her spare time, Chelsea enjoys running, golfing, traveling, Pelotoning, cooking, and watching sports.
