As the Managing Attorney at Wilner & O’Reilly’s Sacramento
office, Chien-Yu (Michael) Wang is a seasoned legal professional
highly proficient in both family and business-based immigration
matters, as well as removal defense. Admitted to the State Bar of
California and the U.S. District Court for the Central and Eastern
Districts of California, Mr. Wang is a distinguished member of
several legal associations, including the Los Angeles County Bar
Association, the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association, the
Sacramento County Bar Association, and the Asian-Pacific Bar
Association of Sacramento.
Mr. Wang's
academic journey showcases his dedication to multicultural
understanding. Graduating from the University of California, Davis
with a Bachelor’s Degree in Japanese and East Asian Studies, he
furthered his studies at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. His
commitment to public service was evident during law school at
Southwestern Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctorate degree
while graduating at the top of his class. Notably, Mr. Wang received
the Southwestern Alumni Scholarship for his outstanding service in
Public Interest.
Before joining
Wilner & O’Reilly, Mr. Wang contributed his legal prowess to
the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA), specifically in the
Asian Pacific-Islander Community Outreach Unit. His early legal
career also involved clerking at the California Department of
Justice, focusing on complex antitrust litigation matters.
In his role as an
associate attorney at Wilner & O’Reilly, Mr. Wang takes on a
broad range of responsibilities. This includes preparing and
accompanying clients to USCIS for family and employment-based
adjustment of status interviews, naturalization interviews, and N-336
appeals. He is adept at handling Motions to Reopen/Reconsider and
Waivers and Appeals to USCIS, the Administrative Appeals Office, and
the Board of Immigration Appeals. Mr. Wang is also adeptly skilled in
preparing immigrant and non-immigrant visas such as L-1 intra-company
transfer visas, E-2 treaty visas, and various employment-based
petitions. Additionally, he represents clients in removal
proceedings, showcasing great knowledge regarding forms of relief
such as cancellation of removal proceedings and 237(a)(1)(h) waivers.
Committed to
public interest, Mr. Wang actively volunteers his time at
community-based pro-bono legal clinics. Drawing from his personal
experience as an immigrant from Taiwan, he possesses a profound
understanding of the immigration system in the United States. Fluent
in Mandarin Chinese and conversant in Japanese, Mr. Wang is a
valuable asset to clients seeking legal representation with cultural
sensitivity.
Mr. Wang's
