Biography

Chris Traina is a Registered Patent Attorney admitted to practice in Florida and Washington, D.C. Mr. Traina practices in patent prosecution in support of the Firm’s Electrical and Computer Technology Practice Group. He has over a decade of experience in intellectual property.

Mr. Traina has prepared and prosecuted utility and design patent applications from a wide array of fields, including software, electronical components, fitness apparatuses, hydroponic systems, consumer goods, premises security, and cosmetics. He has also successfully prepared and prosecuted trademark and trade dress applications, obtaining registrations for clients in a broad array of industries including electronics, consumer goods and textiles, fitness, optical clinics, and cosmetics.

Mr. Traina’s experience also includes counseling clients on issues including infringement and patentability, internet law, copyright, and DMCA, as well as litigating intellectual property matters in federal, state, and bankruptcy courts. He has also worked closely with franchise counsel to ensure proper implementation of trademark protection and compliance with the Federal Trade Commission's rules.

Mr. Traina has been involved in his state and local bar associations, including as an editor of the Barrister, a monthly publication of the Broward County Bar Association, and as a member of Florida Bar Journal/News Editorial Board and Florida Bar Media and Communications Law Committee. He is also a former member of the board of directors of ArtServe, a South Florida art incubator.

Mr. Traina earned a B.S. from the University of Florida and wrote for The Florida Engineer, a magazine published by the University of Florida’s College of Engineering. He attended law school at Nova Southeastern University as a Goodwin scholar. After earning his juris doctor, with honors, Mr. Traina went on to earn an additional B.S. in Computer Science.
