Biography

Since April of 2004, Christopher A. Skipper has stood at the helm of Skipper Law Firm, LLC, serving as its sole practitioner. Located in Mt. Pleasant, Chris practices Criminal Defense across Federal, State, Magistrate, and Municipal Courts. He represents injured workers before the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission, with a seasoned background in Personal Injury Law.

A native of Georgetown and Horry Counties, Chris's journey in the Charleston legal community began in 1990 while pursuing his education at the College of Charleston. Graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1996, he returned to the Lowcountry, commencing his legal career as an assistant solicitor in the Berkeley County Solicitor's Office. For an additional four years, he prosecuted cases in the Charleston County Solicitor's Office, handling a diverse range of crimes from Driving Under Suspension to Murder.

Before establishing the Skipper Law Firm, LLC, Chris spent over a year in the realm of workers' compensation insurance defense. This stint provided invaluable insights into how insurance companies manage claims, a knowledge base that now significantly bolsters his representation of injured workers before the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission.

Beyond his private practice, Chris assumes the role of Judge for the City of Folly Beach Municipal Court and Associate Judge for the City of Isle of Palms. His unique perspective, forged through experiences as a defense lawyer, prosecutor, and judge, enables him to comprehensively evaluate each case.

Residing in Mt. Pleasant with his wife, Amy, and their three children, Chris cherishes moments spent with his family and embraces a love for being on the water. His commitment to professional development is evident in credentials such as being Certified in NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Testing since 2010 and earning certification as a Municipal Judge in August 2012.

In addition to his legal pursuits, Chris actively engages in community service. He has served on the College of Charleston Alumni Board, contributed to the College of Charleston Cougar Club Board, and dedicated his time as a volunteer coach with Mt. Pleasant REC. Chris's multifaceted involvement reflects his dedication to both the legal profession and the well-being of the community he calls home.
