Biography

Attorney Christopher B. Coughlin is a former prosecutor and former partner at the criminal defense firm Milligan Coughlin LLC. He has been lead counsel in over 100 trials and has handled thousands of criminal cases. He represents clients in state district and superior courts throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire as well as the United States District Court for Massachusetts. He represents criminal defendants in all types of matters including DUI/DWI/OUI, drug charges, assault and battery, domestic assault, sexual assault, rape and all other misdemeanors and felonies.

Attorney Coughlin has been featured in SuperLawyers and Boston Magazine as a ‘Rising Star’ in the area of criminal defense – a designation reserved for only 2.5% of lawyers. He has presented on the topic of criminal defense at Boston University and is an instructor at Harvard Law School’s prestigious Trial Advocacy Workshop. Former Prosecutor

As a former Prosecutor with the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office, Attorney Coughlin tried more than 75 cases to verdict. His case assignments included misdemeanors and felonies. He served as a district court supervisor and as a member of the sex offender management unit (SOMU). Since leaving the District Attorney’s office Attorney Coughlin has helped hundreds of people charged with a crime. He leverages his experience as a former prosecutor every day while zealously representing his clients. He treats every client with respect and approaches each case as though it’s the most important thing in that client’s life.

Attorney Coughlin is licensed to practice in Massachusetts and New Hampshire state courts and the United States District Court for the Districts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Attorney Coughlin attended Saint Anselm College (Manchester, NH) and the New England School of Law (Boston, MA).
