Biography

Colby is an attorney whose practice spans land use, litigation, and commercial transactions. He has advised on matters ranging from commercial disputes, torts, and land use to angel investments and intellectual property licenses. His experience includes negotiating complex contracts and developing litigation strategies for both individual and corporate clients.

In addition to his legal practice, Colby has held senior business and leadership roles. He co-founded and served as Chief Operating Officer of a biotechnology company, where he worked with the founding team to raise public and private seed funding, negotiate investor and client agreements, and oversee financial compliance. He has also worked in higher education, managing intellectual property portfolios and advising on licensing strategies, and at a global Fortune 500 company, where he led a team and was responsible for profitability, quality, and efficient production across multiple product lines.

Colby earned his J.D. from Albany Law School, where he was an editor for the Government Law Review, and his M.B.A. from the University at Albany. He also holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University at Albany.

Colby lives in the City of Poughkeepsie with his family.
