Biography

Concetta A. Silvaggio joined Willman & Silvaggio LLP in 1984 and is now a managing partner in the firm. A graduate of Duquesne University School of Law, she completed additional graduate study in microbiology at the University ofPittsburgh. In 1988, Ms. Silvaggio completed the intensive trial advocacy course designed by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.

Ms. Silvaggio has also had the honorable distinction of receiving the highest rating of “AV” from Martindale-Hubbell.

Her practice concentrates on civil litigation where she most frequently represents businesses and insurance carriers. Since a significant part of her case load involves personal injury claims, she has developed a close relationship with medical experts throughout the nation and often coordinates the efforts of counsel representing various defendants in toxic exposure cases. When cases involving multiple defendants proceed to trial, she invariably assumes the role of lead counsel. Her level of preparation and expertise frequently leads to early and reasonable settlements for her clients.

Her practice also includes representation of companies involved in hazardous waste site litigation, and she has extensive experience in products liability, premises liability negligence, breach of contract and employment discrimination.

At the request of local law schools and the National Academy of Trial Lawyers, she served as judge in moot court competitions.

Extremely active in community affairs, Ms. Silvaggio has served as legal counsel for a non-profit group home, and on committees of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh. She has served on boards and committees supporting local theater and arts groups. Additionally, she acted as pro bono counsel for a program for mentally challenged children and adults for over 10 years. Ms. Silvaggio is involved in community affairs associated with a hospital and elderly care center through her membership as a dame in the Order of Malta. She serves on an advisory committee to the president of a local bank.

Concetta A. Silvaggio has been admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, before the U.S. District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania; the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Pennsylvania; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit; United States Supreme Courts, and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
