Biography

Corey Elmer is an experienced business and real estate attorney who practices throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. He assists clients on business entity formation (including corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships), mergers and acquisitions, business sales, contracts, and commercial and farm real estate transactions. Corey advises individuals, start-up companies, established businesses, farming operations, nonprofit organizations, and professional practices. Corey also assists clients in transitioning their businesses, whether to family members, key employees, or other purchasers.

Corey earned his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, which he earned under the auspices of the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship program. Corey is a Marshall Memorial Fellow and completed a fellowship in Europe through the German Marshall Fund of the United States. Prior to joining Vogel Law Firm, Corey represented clients before the Minnesota State Legislature and Minnesota state agencies as a lobbyist for communities throughout Greater Minnesota.

Corey believes in giving back to his community. He is the Past President of the Moorhead Rotary Club and active in Rotary International, including international service missions with his family in Peru, Bolivia, and Guatemala. Corey is the Past Chair of the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation and Past President of the Minnesota State University Moorhead Alumni Foundation. He previously served on the Minnesota State Arts Board, the Moorhead Economic Development Authority, Moorhead Business Association, and chaired the President’s Regional Advisory Council at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He is the recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumni award from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Corey grew up in the family business in the small town of Evansville, Minnesota, where his family owned the local six-lane bowling alley and dance hall. Corey and his wife Brenda have three sons, Christian, Jack and Blake. The Elmer family likes to travel and explore new places, especially long family road trips. They are close to completing their goal of visiting all 50 states, having driven over 34,000 miles through 47 states, four Canadian provinces, and a few other interesting places.
