Biography

Cynthia Coulter George, a founding member of Schoonmaker George, is renowned for her expertise in handling complex matrimonial cases. Her outstanding contributions to the field have earned her esteemed recognition as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Cindy has served in various leadership positions within the Academy, including as a former member of the Board of Governors and counsel, as well as the former President of the Connecticut Chapter. Notably, she also spearheaded the Gender Bias Committee of the Academy, where she authored and directed an instructional video on gender bias in the legal profession.

Having served as the Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Family Law Section, Cindy’s influence extends beyond the Academy. She has made significant contributions to the field through her numerous publications on family law and is the author of Connecticut Family Law Citations. Committed to sharing her knowledge, she has lectured nationally and within Connecticut on a range of topics, including executive employee benefits, business valuations, premarital agreements, and trial practice in the context of matrimonial law.

Outside of her legal career, Cindy finds joy in her role as a grandmother, cherishes the opportunity to travel, and has a passion for golf. She has two children, eight grandchildren and lives in Greenwich and Jupiter, Florida with her husband, Jeff Harris.

For ten years, Ms. George has organized a mediation program in the Stamford Superior Court at the request of the presiding family law judge. She has two children, and lives in Greenwich with her husband, Jeff Harris.
