D. David Lambert is a shareholder and managing partner in the Provo law firm of Howard, Lewis & Petersen, P.C. He has practiced with the firm for 34 years as a trial attorney.
He graduated with highest honors from Utah State University in 1976 with his Bachelor's in Political Science. He graduated with honors from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1979. Prior to joining Howard, Lewis & Petersen, he worked as the assistant Orem City Attorney and as a felony prosecutor in the Utah County Attorney's office.
He was admitted to the Utah State Bar in 1979. He has handled cases in nearly every district of Utah. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court, District of Utah, the U.S. Court of Appeals 10th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Dave's practice emphasizes complex civil cases including medical malpractice, trucking accidents and auto collisions, defective road design, construction site disasters, mining equipment failure, propane explosions, defective machines, dangerous pharmaceuticals and fraud. He has also acted as special counsel for governmental entities in a variety of civil cases.
Dave has achieved the AV Preeminent peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, which denotes adherence to very high ethical standards and that other lawyers rank him at the highest levels of professional excellence. He is selected by his peers to be included in the Best Lawyers in America, and has been named as one of the Mountain States Super Lawyers in the fields of personal injury and medical malpractice in the State of Utah.
Service to the legal profession has been a constant throughout his career. Dave has served on the Board of Governors of the Utah Association for Justice from 1989 to present and served as the President of that organization during 1999-2000. He is a sustaining member of the American Association for Justice. He served as a bar examiner for sixteen years and was the chair of the Ethics question committee. He continues to serve as a mentor for new lawyers under the Bar's new mentor program. He has made presentations at many continuing legal education programs.
Dave has also served his community. He recently completed two terms as a commissioner on the independent Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission. He was appointed by the governor to serve on the Fourth District nominating commission which recommends judges for the courts in Utah, Wasatch, Juab and Millard Counties. He has served on community boards. His service as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America began in 1980, and continues to serve as a chartered organization representative for his local BSA unit.
Dave loves the high mountain country of Utah and Wyoming and has made many backpacking trips to the Uintah and Wind River ranges. Dave was married to Karen Smithson Lambert for more than 32 years before her passing in 2009. He is now married to Liz Clark Lambert. He has six daughters, five stepsons, and twenty-sis grandchildren.
