D. Garrett Hill

D. Garrett Hill is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, where he graduated from Loyola College Prep in 2006.

Mr. Hill received a Leadership Scholarship from the University of Mississippi and obtained his Bachelor of Administration in May of 2010. After graduation, he attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where he obtained his Master of Business Administration at Charlton College of Business, along with his Juris Doctor in May 2014 from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth School of Law.

Mr. Hill returned to his home state of Louisiana and from the fall of 2014 to the summer of 2016, he clerked at the First Judicial District Court in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, for Chief Judge Robert P. Waddell, the Honorable Eugene W. Bryson III, the Honorable Roy L. Brun and the Honorable Erin Leigh Waddell Garrett.

Mr. Hill was admitted to practice law in the state of Louisiana in May 2016. He is also admitted to practice law in Federal District Court in all Districts of Louisiana, including, but not limited to, First Judicial District Court (Caddo Parish), 26th Judicial District Court (Bossier Parish and Webster Parish), 42nd Judicial District Court (DeSoto Parish), Shreveport City Court, Bossier City Court, Juvenile Court of Caddo Parish, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Hill is a licensed title insurance agent and is authorized to issue title insurance policies for First American Title Insurance Company.

In August 2016, he joined Smitherman, Hill & Brice, L.C., as an associate attorney. His focus is on many aspects of the law, including, but not limited to, family law matters, such as divorce, child custody, and child support, and court appearances in those matters. Community property settlements; civil litigation, personal injury and medical malpractice; criminal litigation; business organization (limited liability companies); contract; succession; estate planning, will preparation, living will declarations and powers of attorney.

Mr. Hill is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Shreveport Bar Association, Bossier Bar Association, The Cotillion Club, The Plantation Club and the Krewe of Justinian, where he was Duke in 2017-2018. He and his wife, Claire Langley Hill, are active members of the First United Methodist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana, along with Claire’s two children Cole and Jane.
