Dakota Lipscombe is a civil litigation attorney who focuses his practice on construction, community association, and real estate matters. Based in Raleigh, he represents clients across North Carolina in complex disputes affecting the construction, HOA, and real estate industries.
Dakota’s experience spans the full lifecycle of a dispute, helping clients move them toward efficient resolution while staying grounded in contract language, project documentation, and evolving legal standards. He has resolved pre-litigation matters, participated in alternative dispute resolution, and advocated in North Carolina courts on behalf of his clients. Dakota also regularly provides critical transactional law insights for the firm’s clients, including construction contract drafting and review, as well as guidance for commercial leases and other real estate matters. In the community association and local government space, he advises on governance issues and handles matters involving HOA administration, easements, and land use concerns.
Dakota has also represented clients in administrative proceedings and zoning matters. With multiple construction industry professionals in his family, he brings a practical, industry-informed perspective to construction disputes, risk management, and project planning.
Dakota earned his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he served as an articles editor for the North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology, competed on the Holderness Moot Court Corporate Team, and interned with the North Carolina Business Court. He previously practiced transactional commercial real estate law in New Bern, North Carolina, and received both his B.A. and Master of Public Policy from the University of Virginia.
Outside the office, Dakota enjoys running, audiobooks, and spending time outdoors around Raleigh and Wrightsville Beach.
