Biography

Daniel A. Higson has practiced law in Ventura County for 40 years in the areas of Civil Litigation, Business Law, Trusts & Estates, Probate, and Personal Injury. His primary emphasis has been representing creditors and debtors in bankruptcy cases. Daniel has practiced extensively in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, in the Santa Barbara, San Fernando Valley, Riverside and Santa Ana Divisions. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court, as well as the State Courts of California. He represents clients in the Superior Courts of Ventura, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. In 1983, he was admitted to the United States Supreme Court Bar. In 2000, the State Bar of California certified Daniel as a Bankruptcy Law Specialist. In 2007, the American Board of Certification also certified him as a Bankruptcy Law Specialist. Daniel earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Redlands in 1970. Thereafter he served two years in the United States Army, including serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. He then earned a law degree from the University of LaVerne in 1976. He is an active member of the Ventura County Bar Association, having served on its Board of Directors. He has been a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and the California Central District Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney’s Association. Daniel and his wife, Deanna, have lived in Ojai for the past 30 years. They have four adult children and 12 grandchildren. Daniel is a member of the Ojai Presbyterian Church and has served on its Board of Elders, and a member of the Ventura Yacht Club, where he enjoys racing sailboats.
