Biography

Mr. Moreland represents management in all aspects of labor and employment law in many different industries. He advises management on matters including independent contractor status, civil rights, wage and hour issues, employment contracts, restrictive covenants and many other issues that arise in unionized and non-union employment relationships. Mr. Moreland also works with clients to develop and refine employment practices and procedures, such as contracts, employee handbooks, employment policies and applications, to comply with local, state and federal labor and employment law.

Mr. Moreland often litigates in various federal and state courts, including at the appellate level, as well as proceedings before government administrative agencies and in labor arbitrations. He has successfully argued cases before numerous trial and appellate courts and agencies including the New York State Department of Labor, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New York State Division of Human Rights, the New York City Commission on Human Rights and the National Labor Relations Board.

Complimenting his labor and employment law practice, Mr. Moreland has conducted training sessions on many aspects of labor and employment law, including independent contractor status, union avoidance, disability accommodation and leave requirements, proper discipline of employees, sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation.

Mr. Moreland also represents businesses in corporate matters. He has devoted a substantial amount of his practice serving as outside General Counsel to an entertainment company based in New York City. This entertainment company has undergone substantial growth over the last five years and has won numerous national and international awards for its ground-breaking immersive attraction that features 3-D and holographic technologies. In addition, Mr. Moreland advises on issues related to corporate formation, intellectual property, charitable law and governmental requirements. Mr. Moreland has negotiated and drafted licensing agreements for various firm clients.
