Dan
Munster received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University in
1990. He went on to study law at the
University of Detroit where he was published on Law Review and clerked for the
Michigan Supreme Court. Dan cut his
teeth as a young elder law attorney with the Senior Citizens Law Project, a
division of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society.
After four years with SCLP, Dan opened a solo elder law practice in 1999
focusing on Medicaid Planning, Veterans Benefits Planning, and Special Needs Estate
Planning.
After more than twenty
years of practice, Dan has been recognized by his peers and various independent
organizations as one of the premier elder law attorneys in Georgia:

Dan regularly teaches elder law to other attorneys (more
than 30 Georgia Bar Continuing Legal Education programs taught since 1997). In addition, he regularly participates in
community education programs for family members and caregivers. He has conducted Elder Law classes for the
Evening at Emory program, appeared as a guest attorney on
The Layman’s
Lawyer
television show, and been featured on WGST radio. He contributed to the book A Will Is Not
Enough In Georgia
and has also been published in various periodicals,
including the
Georgia Bar Journal, Elder
Law Today, Atlanta Hospital News
and
Lifestyle Transitions Magazine. A passionate advocate for the elderly, Dan
was named to serve on the Georgia Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias State Plan
Task Force in 2013. Dan is a member of
the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Atlanta Estate
Planning Council, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Dan has served as chair of the State Bar of
Georgia YLD Elder Law Committee, served on the Board of Directors of the State
Bar of Georgia Elder Law Section, served on the Board of Directors of the
Atlanta Bar Association Elder Law Section, and served as an Officer/Board
member for the Georgia Chapter of NAELA.
