Biography

Daniel Olivas is a Shareholder in the Nashville office who joined the firm in 2005. He represents national clients in complex products liability litigation and has experience representing automobile manufacturers and suppliers. He successfully defends industrial, construction, corporate, and non-profit clients in employment discrimination matters, including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, EPA, 1981, USERRA, and state employment law disputes. He has substantial experience representing private colleges in Title IX matters. He has significant experience representing insurance clients in coverage disputes and bad faith litigation and specializes in preparing coverage opinions. Olivas has substantial experience representing clients in 1983 Monell claims. He also has significant experience representing clients in appellate matters in the Sixth and Fourth Circuits and in Tennessee appellate courts, and he has represented national clients in arbitration law matters, including litigating arbitrability disputes.

Olivas is a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Nashville Bar Association, and Defense Research Institute. He has served as a Guest Lecturer, Medical Malpractice Law, Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia. He was Vice Chair, Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee, ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section in 2009-2010, and was a Member of the DRI Insurance Law and Professional Liability Committee, 2011-2012.

He is a graduate of the University of Texas El Paso, with a B.A. He earned his law degree at the University of Tennessee College of Law.
