Darin J. Smith: Attorney with Kontnik | Cohen, LLC

Biography

Darin Smith brings a level of high-level corporate insight to Kontnik | Cohen, LLC that is truly hard to find. Before joining the firm, he served as Senior Employment Counsel at Vail Resorts and Associate General Counsel for SSP America. In those roles, he handled complex labor, employment, and wage-and-hour matters on both a national and international scale. Because he’s been on the inside of these massive organizations, Darin has a unique, practical understanding of how workplace disputes actually start and, more importantly, how big employers evaluate risk. He knows the playbook they use when issues escalate into litigation. Earlier in his career, he sharpened his skills at major national firms like Squire Patton Boggs and Pillsbury Winthrop. A graduate of NYU and the University of Denver, Darin was a standout on the National Trial Team and served as an editor for multiple law reviews. This combination of "big law" experience and in-house strategic thinking makes him an incredible asset. He doesn't just see the legal side of a dispute, he understands the business mechanics behind it, allowing him to provide incredibly savvy, real-world advice to his clients.
