Biography

David Shiller is counsel to Unified LLP. He shares the benefit of his 32 years of litigation experience with Unified LLP’s lawyers.

David graduated from the Faculty of Law at McGill University in 1988 with degrees in both civil law (B.C.L.) and common law (LL.B).

He articled and was an associate at the Toronto law firm Goodman & Goodman (now Goodmans LLP) from 1988 to 1993. He has been a member of the Ontario Bar since 1990.

David is the founding partner of Shillers LLP where most recently he was partners with Unified LLP partner Gil Fischler who joined the firm as an articling student in 2004 and worked his way up to partner in 2009.

David has handled a wide variety of civil litigation matters over his 32 years of practice including cases involving shareholder and partnership disputes, wrongful dismissal and employment law, Indigenous law, defamation, SLAPP motions, condominiums, government scandals, bankruptcy, insolvency, civil fraud, commercial landlord-tenant disputes, municipal elections, liquor licensing, trademark, copyright, professional negligence and commercial real estate.

David is also an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law where he teaches Trial Advocacy.
