David Wiegel began the practice of law in 1997. Over the last 20 years he has served the health care industry as a litigator, focusing his practice on the defense of medical malpractice matters with particular emphasis on skilled nursing facilities, sub-acute rehab providers, assisted living facilities, and local hospitals. In addition, Mr. Wiegel has assisted various healthcare facilities and individual providers successfully manage the challenges of state regulatory investigations and attorney general investigations. Combining this experience with his engineering background, he has been called upon to address issues in product liability as well.
Mr. Wiegel received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy, where he was Associate Editor of the Law Review and a member of the Justice Frank Murphy Honor Society. He earned a B.S. in Packaging from Michigan State University. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a process engineer at the Hughes Aircraft Company in Los Angeles, California.
Mr. Wiegel is licensed to practice law in Michigan, as well as the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Michigan. He is actively involved in the Michigan Center for Assisted Living (MCAL) and the Health Care Association of Michigan (HCAM). He has been a featured presenter at their annual conferences.
