Biography

Daniel Miller focuses his practice on civil litigation, with an emphasis on commercial disputes. He represents clients in various industries, handling matters ranging from property disagreements to complex business conflicts. Daniel’s experience includes transportation-related disputes as well as products liability, insurance coverage, real estate, and admiralty/maritime disputes.

Daniel’s litigation experience includes developing core strategies for cases, taking and defending depositions, and drafting pleadings, motions, and other documents at all stages of litigation. He has served as lead trial counsel in a bench trial concerning a commercial real estate dispute. Daniel has also drafted and argued dispositive motions and motions to stay state regulatory action and has assisted clients in responding to state and federal regulatory action at both the rulemaking and enforcement stages.

In addition to his trial work, Daniel has experience in alternative dispute resolution. He has developed strategies for mediation and obtained favorable settlements both during mediation sessions and in subsequent negotiations. Daniel has also led matters through the process of formal arbitration.

Daniel’s legal background extends to appellate work. He has prepared bench memoranda and orders for federal judges, addressing diverse areas of law including civil rights, criminal law and procedure, constitutional law, habeas corpus, employment discrimination, and appellate and civil procedure. Daniel has also developed appellate strategy for his clients and drafted winning appellate briefs.
