Biography

David L. Fiol graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York with a degree in Government in 1984. During his last semester he interned with Richard Brodsky, a member of the New York State Assembly, and after his graduation Fiol was hired by Brodsky as a full time legislative aid. After one year in Brodsky's office Fiol commenced studies at Harvard Law School, from which he graduated in 1988. He immediately commenced working for Kreindler & Kreindler, a plaintiff's side personal injury firm in New York City with a national reputation as experts in aviation accident litigation. Fiol quickly become involved in high profile litigation including the case against Pan American World Airways arising out of the crash of its Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988. Although only a couple years out of law school, Fiol was part of the team that litigated the case through trial and appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court. His work contributed to recoveries that totaled in the hundreds of millions of dollars. After ten years in New York Fiol relocated to San Francisco, where he worked for Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein as well as Brayton Purcell, continuing his work on behalf of personal injury and wrongful death plaintiffs. At Brayton he was a member of the firm's appellate department and focused on high level legal arguments and appeals before the state and federal courts. He met Joseph Brent in 2007 and they formed Brent & Fiol the following year. Since that time the firm has obtain well over $100 million in judgments and settlements on behalf of its clients in a variety of cases, including aviation accident, auto accident, bicycle accident, police and prison misconduct, electric utility accident and other matters.
