David M. Wright: Attorney with KJT Law Group

Biography

David M. Wright has spent decades handling high-stakes catastrophic injury and professional liability litigation, with a practice focused on medical malpractice, dental malpractice, wrongful death, elder abuse, catastrophic personal injury and complex negligence matters. Over the course of his career, he has represented clients in cases involving profound physical injuries, life-altering medical outcomes and some of the most technically demanding issues in civil litigation.

David’s practice is rooted in the understanding that professional liability cases require far more than a basic knowledge of personal injury law. Medical malpractice and wrongful death matters often demand a sophisticated working understanding of medicine, anatomy, hospital systems and highly specialized expert testimony. These are cases that frequently involve years of records, multiple treating physicians, competing medical opinions and intensely disputed questions surrounding causation and damages.

What distinguishes David is the analytical and methodical approach he brings to evaluating complex cases from the very beginning. When first approached by a prospective client, he focuses on carefully analyzing the core elements that will ultimately determine whether a claim can succeed: liability, causation, and legally compensable damages. In professional liability matters, he believes it is essential to identify not only whether a mistake occurred, but whether that mistake directly caused measurable harm under the law.

David places significant emphasis on identifying both the strengths and the weaknesses of a case early in the litigation process, allowing clients to make informed decisions while building the strongest possible strategy moving forward. In one recent matter involving negligent dental treatment and improperly placed implants, careful case analysis and the retention of highly qualified medical experts ultimately helped secure a substantial settlement.

David’s perspective on professional liability litigation is also shaped by his background before entering the legal profession. During his undergraduate years, he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in a county hospital emergency department while initially pursuing a path toward medicine. Although his career ultimately shifted toward law, the experience provided him with a strong foundation in medicine, anatomy, physiology and patient care that continues to inform his legal practice today.

In addition to his litigation work, David previously served as a Superior Court Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles Superior Court and as a Special Volunteer Settlement Referee, mediating hundreds of matters on a pro bono basis. He continues to serve as a mediator and special neutral arbitrator in complex matters.
