DeeDee Scheller: Attorney with Horowitz Law

Biography

DeeDee Scheller’s practice is dedicated to pursuing justice for victims of sexual abuse. Before representing victims in civil court, DeeDee served as an Assistant State Attorney in Broward County, where she prosecuted cases in the Sexual Battery and Child Abuse Unit. While serving as a prosecutor, DeeDee collaborated closely with law enforcement, including the FBI, to bring justice to victims and their families. As a result, her proven courtroom experience has earned her a reputation as a skilled trial lawyer. At the same time, she combines a trauma-informed approach with aggressive advocacy to pursue justice and maximize recovery for her clients.

After her years in public service, DeeDee joined one of Florida’s largest civil litigation firms. This experience gave her invaluable insight into how defendants and insurers evaluate risk. Because of that experience, she is able to strategically litigate cases against corporate defendants, insurance companies, and other large entities.

At Horowitz Law, DeeDee represents victims of sexual abuse in lawsuits against religious institutions, medical practices, massage establishments, schools, summer camps, and public figures. In addition to her courtroom success, DeeDee has also achieved significant success in pre-suit litigation, often resolving claims before a lawsuit is filed, including multiple policy-limit and seven figure recoveries in high-stakes cases.

DeeDee earned her J.D. with honors from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. While attending law school, DeeDee served on the Moot Court team and had the prestigious honor of arguing a case before the Florida Supreme Court. Furthermore, she was inducted into the National Order of Barristers in recognition of her outstanding oral advocacy. DeeDee earned her Bachelor of Science with honors in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. She is a proud member of the Florida Justice Association, the National Crime Victim Bar Association, and the Broward County Trial Lawyers Association, and has been recognized by The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40. As a South Florida native, DeeDee is honored to advocate for the most vulnerable members of her community.
