Biography

A partner at HPM&B, Denise A. Holzka represents institutional, corporate and individual clients in state and federal court. She defends complex medical liability cases, healthcare, products liability and mass tort actions. Her clients include makers of pharmaceutical drugs, medical devices, chemicals and fitness equipment.

On behalf of a large pharmaceutical corporation, Denise serves as Science/Medical Counsel for upward of 1900 claims involving an over-the-counter drug with a professional use pending in an MDL and twenty states. Under her direction, the HPM&B team work up and analyze individual claims, select experts, handle medical expert depositions and establish and coordinate a consistent medical-based defense in the overall litigation. As part of a global settlement initiative, she was appointed a permanent member of the Claims Review Committee, spearheading the review, valuation and administration of the individual cases.

In addition, Denise regularly advises clients about regulatory issues involving FDA, OSHA and the impact of the new rules promulgated by CMS concerning the Medicare Secondary Payer Act and the use of Medicare set-asides in liability settlements.

Denise is a frequent lecturer on various medical and legal topics. She was a presenter and judge at A.M.
