Biography

Denise F. Fields represents employers in all aspects of employment law and assists clients in human resources counseling. She has experience litigating cases under numerous federal and state employment law statutes, including discrimination and harassment laws, as well as whistle-blower/anti-retaliation statutes. In addition, Ms. Fields’ experience includes assisting human resources personnel with issues related to employee recruiting and employee retention; ADA, FMLA, workers’ compensation issues; executive employment agreements, non-compete/non-solicitation provisions, handbook creation and revision and internal investigations. Ms. Fields also has general experience in complex commercial litigation, encompassing all aspects of the litigation process, including case strategy, pre-trial briefing, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.

Bar Involvement

Denise F. Fields is a member of the Missouri and Kansas State Bar Associations and is admitted to practice before state and federal district courts and courts of appeals. She is also a member of the Jackson County Bar Association and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.

Community Involvement

Ms. Fields is an active participant in the Kansas City community. She serves as the Chairperson of the Kansas City, Missouri Human Relations Board, which is the final appeal board concerning employment-related actions for all employees of the City of Kansas City, Missouri. In addition, Ms. Fields is the Treasurer of the Friends of Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center & Museum and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
