Biography

Denise Hicks Brown joined Family Legal Advocacy Group (FLAG) in July 2024 as a Senior Associate Attorney. Denise has extensive experience providing representation in all areas of family law including several years of experience providing advocacy in domestic violence cases. Denise is specially trained in trauma-based family law matters and is especially skilled in handling high conflict divorce cases. Denise always approaches her representation from a negotiate and settle perspective which allows clients the opportunity to move on to a brighter future and controls costs often associated with litigation. If settlement is not possible, Denise is a zealous advocate in the courtroom.

Denise received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law, in San Francisco, California. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.

Prior to joining FLAG, Denise was employed for four years by a Frederick County family law firm providing representation in all family law matters. Denise also worked for two years as Staff Attorney for Heartly House, Inc., in Frederick County, providing advocacy for victims of domestic violence.

Denise is an active member of various Bar Associations including Frederick and Howard Bars and the Maryland State and American Bar Associations. She is the former Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Frederick County Bar. Denise provides representation in Frederick, Howard, Montgomery and surrounding counties. She is licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
