Biography

Dr. François Blaudeau is a skilled attorney and a practicing, certified obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN) who specializes in advanced gynecological surgery.

Dr. Blaudeau has litigated a large number of wrongful death cases and complex medical malpractice/negligence claims including birth injury, Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, paralysis, and surgical mishaps. He has litigated jury cases in many states and has represented clients in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Pennsylvanian, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, California, Arizona, Idaho, and Missouri. As an attorney, he has recovered millions of dollars in compensation for his clients. Most recently, he has focused his practice on class action and mass tort litigation.

Dr. Blaudeau received a medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1987, completed his residency at Tulane University, and formed a private practice in 1991. Dr. Blaudeau graduated from the Birmingham School of Law with a Juris Doctor in 1998. From there, he began litigating high profile medical malpractice claims across the country and soon founded the Southern Institute for Legal and Medical Affairs to advocate for patient and physician rights. He is a Chairman of the Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Board of Biomedical Disposal Inc. and is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the Birmingham Bar Association, and the American Society of Forensic Obstetricians & Gynecologists. In pursuit of patient-advocacy, Dr. Blaudeau has also served as Governor of the American College of Legal Medicine. His article “Power Morcellation with Contained Tissue Extraction – A Retrospective Chart Review” was published in The Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology. Dr. Blaudeau is fluent in Spanish, Italian, and French.

Dr. Blaudeau has received multiple awards from Vitals, an organization that helps patients get connected with doctors. His past accolades from Vitals include the Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award (2008-2013, 2015-2017), the Compassionate Doctor Award (2009-2016) and recognition as a Top 10 Doctor in the state and metropolitan area in 2014.
