Biography

Duane J. Ruggier III is a native son of Hurricane, West Virginia. He attended Marshall University where he obtained a Bachelor of Art’s degree with an emphasis in History and Political Science, graduating Cum Laude. While at Marshall University, Duane was involved in student government where he was a member of the Judiciary Committee. In his spare time at Marshall University, Duane was involved in Greek Life, worked on various political campaigns, and advocated as a Student Lobbyist both on and off campus, and across the nation.

After finishing his undergraduate studies, Duane was accepted to and attended the West Virginia University College of Law, where he was a Juris Doctorate candidate, obtaining his J.D. in May of 2024. During his time in Morgantown, Duane was a member of the Lugar Trial Association and the Democratic Law Caucus.

After graduation, Duane sat for and passed the West Virginia State Bar examination. Upon passing the Bar examination, Duane was admitted to the West Virginia State Bar in October of 2024.

In his spare time, Duane enjoys reading, skiing, and spending time with those dearest to him. A passionate follower of various sports teams, Duane is an unwavering supporter of The Pittsburgh Steelers, The Pittsburgh Penguins, The Pittsburgh Pirates, and The Marshall University Thundering Herd.
