Biography

Duane W. Hartman, now serving as Of Counsel, began his journey with the firm as a law clerk in 1965. He served as Valparaiso City Judge from 1972 to 1980.

Currently, Mr. Hartman practices in civil litigation, domestic relations, and real estate litigation. His skills are enriched by his background in both engineering and law, holding degrees in both fields from Valparaiso University. Before pursuing a legal career, he worked in road construction, a ready mix company, and an asphalt and sand mining company.

A native of Saginaw, Michigan, Mr. Hartman graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1960. He has been a Valparaiso resident since he began his studies at Valparaiso University in 1960. He has served as a lab instructor in the VU School of Engineering and has been actively involved in the community. His roles include board chairman at Lutheran Social Services and president of the Porter County Bar Association, VU School of Law Alumni Association, and Immanuel Lutheran Church Voters’ Assembly. Mr. Hartman is also a recipient of the Jaycees’ Outstanding Young Hoosier award.
