Biography

Dustin Whittenburg earned his JD, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law in 2003, and a LLM in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 2006. In addition, he was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship, as well as serving as an articles editor of the SMU Law Review Association. Prior to attending law school, he received a BBA (accounting & finance) and a MS in accounting from Texas Tech University.

After graduating from NYU Law School, he worked at Cox Smith Matthews, Inc. where he generally focused on complex tax planning matters, federal and state tax controversies, counseling non-profit organizations, and executive compensation proceedings. He has represented hardworking taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and Texas Comptroller, as well as before the U.S. Tax Court and federal district courts.
