Biography

Edgardo Ferreyra Jr. focuses his practice on insurance defense and commercial litigation matters, concentrating in the areas of lawyers' and accountants' liability, Latin America, product liability, toxic tort, environmental and asbestos liability, and commercial contracts and agreements, including automobile finance and dealership agreements, as well as actions for wrongful replevin, product liability, toxic tort, environmental and asbestos.

Edgardo's experience includes handling wrongful death matters as well as contract and financing disputes. His practice involves high-exposure, complex cases. Edgardo has tried numerous cases and has extensive appellate experience, appearing before several Florida appellate courts. Edgardo is also active in the community and does pro bono work for Lawyers for Children America, a child advocacy organization protecting the rights of children who are victims of abuse, abandonment and neglect.

Florida Supreme Court: Asbestos and Silica Compensation Fairness Act Cannot Be Retroactively Applied

The Florida Supreme Court ruled that retroactive application of the Asbestos and Silica Compensation Fairness Act to plaintiffs who “had accrued causes of action for asbestos-related disease pending on the effective date of the Act,” is “impermissible because it violates the due process clause of the Florida Constitution.”
