Biography

Edward McIntyre joined the original firm Sherman Federman Donovan and Sambur in 1997, becoming an equity partner in 2001. In 2015 that firm subsequently became McIntyre Donohue Accardi Salmonson and Riordan. Ed has practiced in issues relating to employment law since 1994 and has been a practicing Workers’ Compensation attorney for over 26 years. He has a diverse background with a variety of experience related to representing both injured workers and those with employment related issues.

Ed worked as a New York City Police Officer from 1985 to 1989, assigned to patrol duties and the Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit and became a Suffolk County Police Officer in February of 1989. In May 1988 he graduated from John Jay College. While working for the SCPD, he received his Juris Doctorate from the City University of New York Law School in May of 1994. His work experience with the SCPD included assignments as a precinct patrol officer, two years in the office of the Suffolk County Police Commissioner as legal counsel, Highway Patrol Bureau, the Community Response Unit, and 10 years as a PBA union delegate. He retired from the Suffolk County Police Department as a Patrol Sergeant in October of 2004.

Mr. McIntyre has been a member of the Suffolk County PBA since 1989. He is a member in good standing of the Suffolk County Superior Officers Association, the Suffolk County Police Conference, and the Suffolk County Police Association. He also maintains membership with the Suffolk County Bar Association and the New York State Workers’ Compensation Bar Association. In addition, Mr. McIntyre is disability counsel to the Suffolk County Police Conference. The Police Conference is an organization of professional Law Enforcement Officers from the State, County, Town and Village Police departments operating in Suffolk County, New York. He has spoken before numerous police organizations as well as public and private sector unions on issues related to Workers’ Compensation, Social Security Disability, and Municipal Pensions.

He resides in Suffolk County with his wife Janice. They have three grown children, and two grandchildren.
