Biography

Emilio handles a broad range of civil matters within the Firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Family Law Groups, including divorce and custody actions, matters involving the Department of Children and Families (DCF), employment, and personal injury claims. Emilio is certified as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) and Attorney for the Minor Child (AMC) for the State of Connecticut. Emilio also represents businesses in navigating commercial and employment issues. A native of Puerto Rico, Emilio prides himself on his ability to represent Spanish-speaking clients and advise them in their language.

Emilio obtained an Intellectual Property Certificate from the University of Connecticut School of Law and is passionate about assisting artists and businesses with the development, acquisition, and protection of trademarks and copyrightable works, from registration to enforcement.

While at UCONN Law, Emilio was the recipient of the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for his success in mediating and negotiating settlements in employment disputes on behalf of the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) with the UCONN Law’s Mediation Clinic. He was also presented with a CALI Award in Electronic Discovery and Digital Evidence.

A skilled case manager, Emilio applies this broad knowledge base to engage in creative problem solving and create value for his clients.

Prior to joining Cohen and Wolf, Emilio worked with the Center for Latino Progress in Hartford, where he leveraged relationships with small business and non-profit organizations for the benefit of underserved populations. He continues this work by volunteering extensively across the state.

Emilio serves on the Executive Board of Directors of the Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association (CHBA) and as a Presidential Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Association, appointed to the Intellectual Property Section. Emilio is also member of the Judge Janet Bond Arterton American Inn of Court, the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, and The Association of Hispanic MBAs & Business Professionals (Prospanica).
