Biography

Emily Kehl joined Hart Powell, S.C. in 2025 after earning her Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School. Emily’s practice focuses on defending people accused of crimes in state and federal courts. Emily has a strong passion for helping those entangled in the criminal justice system. Her interest in the criminal justice system began at the University of Wisconsin Madison where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in 2022 in legal studies, psychology, and criminal justice. Since joining the firm, Emily has shown a strong work ethic and determination that has shaped her into a zealous advocate for her clients.

While attending Marquette University Law School, Emily clerked for prominent criminal defense attorney Michael Steinle, interned for Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Laura Crivello, served as President of First Generation Professionals, worked as a Research Assistant for Dean Anna Fodor, the Assistant Dean of Students, competed in the National Criminal Procedure Moot Court competition, was inducted into the Pro Bono Honor Society, and received the CALI award for excellence in Legal Analysis, Writing and Research. Emily is a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division, the Milwaukee Bar Association, and the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association. Outside of work, Emily loves to be outside, whether that be going for a walk, or out on the lake in Lake Country. She is licensed to practice in the Federal District Courts of Wisconsin and Wisconsin State Courts.
