Biography

In September 2022, Emily Koning assumed the role of Senior Attorney at Family Legal Advocacy Group, LLC (FLAG), bringing a wealth of experience and commitment to her practice.

Graduating magna cum laude from Marshall University in 2010 and cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2013, Emily's journey into family law began with impactful internships. During law school, she interned for the Honorable Kendra Y. Ausby in the Family Division of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City and the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, Child in Need of Assistance Division. Her dedication to family law continued as a student attorney in the Family Law Clinic, where she represented clients in divorce, custody, and protective orders cases. Emily's academic excellence also led her to become a member of the University of Baltimore Law Review.

Post-graduation, Emily served as a clerk for a Family Law Magistrate in Baltimore City, gaining valuable insights into the intricacies of family law proceedings. Since then, she has devoted almost exclusively to practicing Family Law across numerous jurisdictions in Maryland.

For Emily, the essence of client representation lies in treating individuals like people, not merely as "cases." She firmly believes that clients deserve to feel heard and respected throughout the legal process, ensuring they understand the intricacies and have the necessary information to make informed decisions. Emily's goal is for clients to emerge from their cases feeling empowered, with a clear understanding of their priorities and goals.

In each case she handles, Emily prioritizes her clients' goals, recognizing the uniqueness of each complex situation. Rejecting a one-size-fits-all approach, she understands that the outcomes in each case may differ based on individual circumstances. Emily is committed to helping clients achieve their specific goals, tailored to their needs and aspirations, rather than imposing someone else's objectives.

Outside of her professional life, Emily resides in Baltimore County with her husband and children. Beyond her legal pursuits, she enjoys engaging in home improvement projects and cherishing quality time with family and friends. Emily's holistic approach to both her practice and personal life reflects her dedication to creating meaningful connections and positive outcomes for her clients and those she holds dear.
