Biography

Eric Henzy practices in business bankruptcies and workouts and business and commercial litigation. He has extensive experience representing debtors, creditors' committees, secured and unsecured creditors and other parties in bankruptcy cases and out-of-court workouts. Eric's recent engagements include Johnson Memorial Hospital, et. al (counsel to the debtors in a case involving acute care hospital and nursing home); Reunion Industries (counsel to the debtor); SageCrest (counsel to the equity committee in hedge fund cases); American Mortgage Acceptance Company (counsel to the debtor, a REIT that invested in commercial mortgage backed securities); Official Equity Committee of Lancer Partners, Inc. (hedge fund); Handy & Harman Refining Group, Inc. and Attleboro Refining Company, Inc. (counsel to the Chapter 11 debtors, one of the largest refiners of precious metals in the world); SE Technologies vs. Summit (counsel to defendant in major preference action); B.V. Brooks (counsel to the Chapter 11 trustee in a case involving significant real estate assets and offshore trust); Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Publishers Consortium, Inc.; Executive Greetings, Inc. (counsel to the Chapter 11 debtor); Daticon, Inc. (official committee of unsecured creditors and special counsel to Chapter 7 trustee); Gulf States Steel, Inc. (counsel to indenture trustee); International Management Associates (counsel to several parties in interest in hedge fund case); Conseco, Inc. (counsel to indenture trustee); and BioPlexus, Inc. (counsel to the Chapter 11 debtors).

Eric has appeared in bankruptcy courts around the country, and has represented parties in a number of the first hedge fund insolvencies in the country. He has first chair tried more than thirty contested matters and adversary proceedings to judgment. Prior to joining Reid and Riege, Eric practiced in the bankruptcy group at the New York firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCloy. He also served as law clerk to the Honorable Alan H.W. Shiff, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Connecticut.
