Biography

As a founding partner of Edelson Lechtzin LLP, Eric Lechtzin focuses his practice on ERISA class actions and unpaid wage and overtime litigation, while also representing clients in consumer protection and securities fraud cases. A 1991 graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law, he previously practiced as a shareholder at Berger Montague PC. Mr. Lechtzin has held leadership roles in the consumer bar, including serving as Pennsylvania State Chair for the National Association of Consumer Advocates. He has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in Class and Mass Tort Litigation each year since 2017, is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and maintains a 10.0 Avvo rating. His ERISA work includes co-authoring an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in IBM v. Jander (2020), advocating successfully to preserve the standard for pleading ESOP fiduciary-breach claims. He has also obtained strong results in cases such as Wilcox v. Georgetown University, Daugherty v. University of Chicago ($6.5 million settlement), and Nicolas v. Princeton University ($5.8 million settlement). In wage-and-hour matters, he helped secure a $4.9 million settlement in Arrington v. Optimum Healthcare IT and recovered wages in Meyer v. LandTek. His securities and consumer cases include significant settlements and policy-changing outcomes.
