Biography

Eric Stempien, a seasoned trial attorney, brings over 20 years of dedicated experience to civil litigation matters, keenly focused in employment litigation encompassing sexual harassment and discrimination claims. Additionally, his practice extends to civil rights violations, police misconduct matters, and personal injury cases. Eric is renowned for his thoughtful yet aggressive approach to litigation, consistently fighting ardently for the rights of his clients.

During the initial decade of his career, Eric served at a Northville-based boutique law firm, where he focused on employment litigation and personal injury. His commitment and legal acumen led him to the position of managing partner within the firm. Following this tenure, Eric transitioned to the role of General Counsel for a health care provider in Metro Detroit, providing comprehensive legal support to the executive committee. His responsibilities included overseeing litigation, navigating health care law intricacies, and advising on personnel decisions. Additionally, Eric managed all external litigation on behalf of the corporation. Despite valuable experience gained, Eric realized his true passion lay in the courtroom, advocating for clients.

Eric's academic journey includes earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Michigan in 1994, where he served as the President of the Undergraduate Political Science Association. He went on to graduate with honors from Wayne State University Law School in 1998.

Admitted to practice in every court in the State of Michigan, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, Eric has demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of legal proceedings.

Beyond his legal pursuits, Eric resides in Metro Detroit with his wife and two daughters. His commitment to community involvement is evident through his pro-bono activities, serving as Legal Counsel for the Detroit Audubon Society since 2014.
