Biography

Erica White joins Elam & Burke as an accomplished litigator, focusing on civil defense litigation, insurance bad faith cases, and appellate work. Her commitment to justice is demonstrated through her dedication to securing favorable results for her clients in motion practice, as well as federal jury trials, particularly those involving alleged civil rights violations.

Erica grew up in Buhl, Idaho, a small rural town that shaped her early perspective. She would leave Buhl to attend Boise State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Following an early career in logistics with an international shipping company, Erica’s legal aspirations took her to the University of Idaho College of Law. Erica spent the first part of her legal career at a private law firm, eventually becoming a partner. Her practice centered on insurance defense, regularly defending car accident and slip and fall cases. She would eventually leave that firm to join the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Civil Division where she continued to develop her practice in various areas of civil litigation including defense of alleged civil rights violations, attorney malpractice, medical malpractice, personal injury, whistleblower claims, and employment discrimination.

Her experience, from her time in private practice to the nearly nine years in the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, has been instrumental in shaping her approach to law. Her expertise in insurance defense and civil rights litigation has contributed significantly to her current practice areas. She prides herself on being goal-oriented, producing quality work product, and always meeting her deadlines, merits that have led to significant success in her litigation practice, particularly arguing and winning dispositive motions. Her accomplishments include arguing cases before the Idaho Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
