Biography

Erik K. Schmitt is an adept trial attorney in the Los Angeles office, skilled in all aspects of litigation. Mr. Schmitt has extensive experience in consumer protection including first and second-chairing trials to verdict throughout California. In his work life, Mr. Schmitt most enjoys motion practice, where he has not only drafted, argued, and won numerous dispositive motions in both state and federal courts, but has also advised appellate counsel in matters before the California and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

After first obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Film and Television from California State University Northridge, Mr. Schmitt graduated magna cum laude in 2016 from Southwestern Law School’s SCALE accelerated program, earning his Juris Doctor in just 2 years.

While in law school, Mr. Schmitt was a member of the Southwestern Law Review; a torts research assistant; and judicial extern for both the Hon. Philip S. Gutierrez in the Central District of California federal court and the Hon. Stephen A. Marcus in the Los Angeles Superior Court. Along the way, Mr. Schmitt also received several prestigious honors, including CALI and Witkin awards for Evidence, Tort Litigation Practice, Constitutional Law, and Wills & Trusts, among others.

Mr. Schmitt is currently admitted to practice law in California and New York.
