Biography

Ernie Trammell was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina. He attended public schools in Anderson through the ninth grade before graduating from The McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. During his youth, Ernie was active in athletics, church, and Boy Scouts. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, earned the God and Country Religious Award, and represented the United States at a World Boy Scout Jamboree in Japan. An accomplished tennis player, Ernie held many state rankings and was part of a high school team that won the national championship.

Education

• Mercer University – Double major in Business Administration and History; four-year tennis letterman; member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

• Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University – Member and Associate Editor of the Mercer Law Review. Graduated in 1982.

Legal Career

After graduating from law school, Ernie returned to Anderson to begin his practice of law. He spent 14 years in a partnership focusing on civil litigation involving personal injury, medical malpractice, and product liability. In 1996, he founded his own firm to concentrate primarily on workers’ compensation law.

Today, Ernie devotes his practice almost exclusively to representing injured workers, and he has handled claims involving:

• Brain injuries, quadriplegia, paraplegia, amputations, and catastrophic trauma

• Neck and back injuries, joint replacements, and complex orthopedic injuries

• Occupational diseases, including byssinosis, silicosis, hard metals disease, Legionnaire’s disease, and hepatitis contracted from blood exposure

• Work-related fatalities, chemical sensitivity, burns, and disfigurement

In addition to representing clients, Ernie has taught and written on workers’ compensation law, including authoring materials for the seminar Advanced Workers’ Compensation in South Carolina.
