Biography

Florence Simon litigates in a cross section of practice areas.

Florence currently litigates matters involving children and families dealing with damages to their mental health allegedly caused by the addictive design of social media platforms. She is active in Conservation Law Foundation v. Shell Oil-alleging Shell failed to prepare coastal fuel terminals for climate risks, violating environmental laws and risking toxic discharges. She also represents whistleblowers flagging fraud against the government.

Prior to joining Motley Rice, Florence served as a law clerk to the Honorable Bethany J. Alvord of the Connecticut Appellate Court. She also served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Vanessa L. Bryant of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and a 2023 Summer Law Clerk at Motley Rice. She gained additional experience as a legal intern with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and while working for an immigration law firm. In 2024 she published a note in the Connecticut Law Review.

Florence served as an Articles Editor for the Connecticut Law Review, President of the Energy and Environmental Law Society, and was an active moot court competitor. She mentored through the Women in Law Students’ Association and worked as a research and teaching assistant in areas including constitutional law, legislation and regulation, and corporate law.

Prior to law school, Florence developed a background in healthcare while working for Dialogue Health and serving in multiple leadership roles, including Executive Director, for the award-winning McGill Student Emergency Response Team (MSERT).

Florence is fluent in French and possesses basic Arabic skills.
