Biography

Frederick J. Dorchak is a partner at Collard & Roe, where he specializes in patent prosecution and litigation. Fred has over 25 years of experience specializing in all phases of patent litigation and licensing. His technical experience includes a wide variety of electrical and mechanical devices and organic and inorganic chemistry, including chemical products and processes on plastic films, single crystal nickel-based alloys for jet engines, flue gas desulfurization processes, agricultural pest chemicals and lubricating oil additives. His clients range from individuals to large international corporations. He is on the board of Directors of the International Intellectual Property Society and a member of various bar associations including the New York Patent, Trademark Law Association, the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Federal Circuit Bar Association, the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations, and the Great Neck Lawyers' Bar Association.

Prior Experience

Fred worked at two prominent New York City intellectual property law firms where he represented a number of multi-national clients. He was part of the litigation team that successfully defended a multi-national chemical company against an action brought by the United States Department of Justice to cancel an extremely valuable agricultural chemical patent. He participated in the trial of the Fonar v. General Electric case involving magnetic resonance imaging.
