Insurance and reinsurance

Lawyer Li has in the past worked for People’s Insurance Company of China, Ping An Insurance Company of China, Yingda Taihe Property Insurance Company, Bank of China Insurance, Union Life, Cseth Insurance Brokers, and Alltrust Property Insurance Company. He was in charge of daily legal affairs, including compliance management, clause review, product development, consultations on underwriting and claims assessment, claim settlement resolution, and other areas.

In the claim settlement dispute resolution area, he used to handle numerous cases involving insurance contract disputes, such as those concerning corporate property insurance, engineering insurance, transportation insurance, credit insurance, auto insurance, life insurance, and subrogation. The total value of these cases amounted to over one billion yuan. He handled the very first case in the first nationwide finance court, which had a huge impact in this area, thanks to acting as an attorney for the party Yan in an insurance contract dispute with an insurance company.

Civil and Commercial Dispute Resolution

Lawyer Li has acted as a representative in litigations and arbitrations concerning many important and difficult cases, satisfying most clients in the process. He acted as the legal representative for a construction company in a dispute with a hydropower station over a construction project, saving nearly two hundred million yuan for the construction company. He acted as the legal representative for a Wuhan company in a dispute over a land transfer contract with the government, saving an extraordinary amount of money for the company. He also acted as the legal representative for an outbound transportation company in a dispute over a land transfer contract with a new energy company, recovering tens of millions of yuan on the back of the company’s creditor’s rights.

Criminal Defense

Lawyer Li has handled plenty of influential criminal cases, achieving successful outcomes for clients awaiting trial, including getting the public prosecutor to withdraw the case, reach no decision, or winning abatement and probation for his defendants. He represented the defendant in the case of “Cai”, who was suspected of disposing of stolen goods and being involved in the domestic disposal of stolen jewelry for a large overseas criminal enterprise. Domestic public security then arrested Cai in response to Interpol’s request. However, under Lawyer Li’s defense, public security withdrew the case against Cai and acquitted him. In another case concerning the alleged transportation of drugs by “Tao”, Tao was detained for nearly two years and could have been subject to life imprisonment or worse. However, under Lawyer Li’s defense, the procuratorate went back to public security authorities twice for supplementary investigation, finally reaching the decision not to prosecute. In a further case in which “Xue” was accused of credit card fraud, a case that involved a large amount of money and garnered extensive media attention, the procuratorate reached a decision not to prosecute, largely due to the efforts of Lawyer Li and his colleagues.
