Biography

Gary C. Tyler is a partner at Hinman, Howard & Kattell and chair of the firm’s Workers’ Compensation and Disability Benefits Practice Group. Gary is experienced in handling all matters involving Worker’s Compensation Law, including representing injured workers, defending insurance companies and employers against claims by injured workers, representing businesses in disputes with the Workers’ Compensation Board, and contesting workers’ compensation insurance audits. He has successfully represented many businesses in negotiating favorable settlements of penalties and assessments made against these businesses by the Workers’ Compensation Board.

Gary’s practice also includes regular appearances before the Appellate Division, Third Department, and he has been recognized as one of the “winningest” attorneys in New York State in workers’ compensation matters at the Appellate Division. His published decisions of note include Rebeor v. Moose Lodge #1280, 72 A.D.3d 1223, 897 N.Y.S. 2d 774 (3rd. Dept. 2010) and Fazzary v. Shepard Niles, 89 A.D.3d 1187, 931 N.Y.S.2d 920 (3rd Dept. 2011).

Gary has lectured throughout the area to various businesses and workplace groups regarding worker’s compensation law compliance and the rights of injured workers.

A native of Binghamton, Gary practices throughout New York State. He devotes time to participating in community activities as an active member of the Board of Directors of the Discovery Center, and a past member of the Board of Directors of the SOS Shelter. He is a member of the Broome Leadership Institute Class of 2011 and the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce Livewires Class of 2010.
