Biography

Gary Chapman intertwines his experience in real estate, agribusiness, succession planning and in-depth estate planning to assist privately held business and agribusiness owners to grow and protect their assets through a long-term relationship and a long-term plan. Gary serves as chair of the firm’s Agribusiness Group and helps clients evaluate opportunities and hurdles with a blend of legal, business and on-the-farm training. As a former owner and manager of his family’s Holstein dairy operation, he understands the pressures and unique aspects of running farms and ag operations. Whether advising on choice of entity, contracts, acquisitions, estate and business succession planning, taxes, leases or property transfers, Gary takes the time to understand the overall personal and business goals, strengths, business culture and current challenges of clients.

Gary is also a member of the Bose McKinney & Evans Real Estate Group and advises clients on sophisticated local and national real estate matters, from initial concept through closed deals. His real estate practice includes representing an agricultural REIT, which acquires agricultural real estate nationally; representing landowners who lease real estate to windmill companies; commercial real estate joint venture structure, development and acquisition; and significant experience with real estate 1031 tax deferred exchanges.

Gary has been a practicing attorney since 1989 and a partner in the firm since 1996. He is a graduate of the Indiana Agriculture Leadership Program and is past chairman of the Indiana Agriculture Leadership Institute.
