Biography

Geannina (Nina) Burgos, a first-generation lawyer born in Chile and raised in Miami, Florida, has dedicated her entire legal career to advocating for individuals entitled to disability benefits from insurance companies. This commitment stems from a personal connection to the challenges of disability; witnessing her father-in-law's battle with Myasthenia Gravis ignited Nina's passion for this area of law.

In her practice, Nina guides clients nationwide through every stage of the disability insurance benefits process, from initial claims to federal and state court litigation. Focusing primarily on cases governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), she also skillfully handles individual disability claims under state law.

With extensive experience representing clients facing serious medical conditions, including but not limited to Trigeminal neuropathy, Chronic Migraines, Ehler’s Danlos, Long COVID and Parkinson’s Disease, Nina offers comprehensive legal skills in navigating various disability insurance issues.

Beyond her legal career, Nina’s background includes managing a nonprofit arts education organization and training as a classically trained ballet, modern, and flamenco dancer. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Communications and an MBA in Entrepreneurship.

A graduate of Florida International College of Law, Nina's academic achievements include receiving the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Mediation and serving in leadership roles such as vice-president of FIU Law’s Women’s Law Society.

Throughout her career, Nina has been recognized for her dedication and excellence, receiving accolades such as the Clients' Choice Award from Avvo and being selected to both the Rising Stars and Super Lawyers lists. Committed to giving back to her community, she actively engages in nonprofit arts organizations, serves as an adjunct professor of legal writing at FIU Law, and volunteers as a grant panelist for cultural funding institutions. Nina's multifaceted background and unwavering support make her a trusted advocate for those facing the difficulties of disability insurance law.
