Biography

Mr. Oliver attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he served as the Undergraduate Attorney General; and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Communications Studies in 1996. While at Chapel Hill, he was inducted into the Order of the Golden Fleece. He also attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, where he earned his law degree with Honors in 1999. While in law school, he served on the University of North Carolina Law Review from 1997-1998. He was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1999. Mr. Oliver is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Eastern N.C. Inn of Court and the Craven County Bar Association. His areas of practice are Bankruptcy, Alternatives to Bankruptcy and Civil Litigation. Mr. Oliver is a Specialist in Business Bankruptcy Law, certified by both the NC State Bar and the American Board of Certification. He has served on the Section Council for the N.C. State Bar Bankruptcy Section and was the co-Managing Editor of the North Carolina Bankruptcy Practice Manual. He currently serves as a NewTAC representative with the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. Mr. Oliver serves as a Chapter 7 Panel Trustees for the Eastern District of North Carolina Bankruptcy Court, for the New Bern Division. He has also served as a Chapter 11 Trustee. Mr. Oliver has been chosen by Business North Carolina magazine for inclusion in the North Carolina Legal Elite for 2009, 2010 and 2011. He has also been chosen by his peers for inclusion in North Carolina Super Lawyers for 2009, 2010, 2011. He is a frequent speaker on bankruptcy matters, most recently at the 33rd Annual Bankruptcy Institute in November 2010.
