After graduating from DePaul law school in 1981, George handled his first FELA case for an Amtrak coach cleaner injured at Chicago Union Station. George did not have much time to settle into his role as partner at Cogan & Power, P.C. On his first day with the firm George started a trial with his new partner, John Power, and achieved a record FELA verdict in Cook County of $24.5 million. The previous record FELA verdict in Illinois was $15 million.
