Gregory Drutchas leads the firm’s healthcare business and regulatory, medical staff, and insurance practices. In addition to his expertise in corporate healthcare, medical staff matters and insurance, Mr. Drutchas has considerable experience in a variety of other areas, including medical malpractice defense litigation, employment law, commercial litigation and appellate practice.
Mr. Drutchas is licensed to practice law in Michigan, as well as the U.S. District Courts of Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is also active in several professional organizations, and has held leadership positions in several professional organizations. Mr. Drutchas has made over 100 presentations to healthcare provider, lawyer, and insurance groups. He has also published several articles and book chapters on insurance matters and legal issues facing physicians and healthcare institutions.
Mr. Drutchas is AV Peer Review Rated by LexisNexis/Martindale-Hubbell. The AV Peer Review rating is the highest rating allowed. It attests to a lawyer’s legal ability and professional ethics, and reflects the confidential opinions of the Bar and the Judiciary. Mr. Drutchas has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America as a “Best Lawyer” in the field of Health Care Law. Mr. Drutchas has been named as a Michigan Super Lawyer in Health Care. Only five percent of the attorneys in the state are named Super Lawyers. Also, Mr. Drutchas was selected by DBusiness Magazine as a Top Lawyer in Michigan in the field of health care law. He was also recognized as a Leading Lawyer in 2021 and 2022. This recognition is based on a survey of their peers.
Mr. Drutchas received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law. He also earned an A.B. in Journalism from the University of Michigan.
